Hitting my Stride

This past weekend, I set off on my annual half marathon.  This one was extra special as we celebrated 4 decades of living and traveled to Key West.  It has been 25 years since I stood on that island - the winter I lost my Uncle Tom.  Key West was his sanctuary, and it holds many of my best memories of him.  Stepping back into town, I felt so much of him in every inch and spot.  His favorite breakfast place was still there with the same items on the menu.  The view from his condo was still spectacular.  His favorite bar was our final destination for the race, and on the wall an Okoboji license plate.  In that moment, I knew he was there still enjoying a round and thankful for all the moments.

While I was away, my mini-me was pretty much in charge.  She took on the grocery shopping with list in hand - although her choices might be slightly unusual.  Plus Dad was more than willing for an ice cream treat.
