Soaking in the final days
School will be resuming shortly with a grader and a preschooler. As the weather continues to bring lots of sun, we have taken advantage. Trip to the zoo secured by Kyle's summer reading program. Dinosaur dig followed by hatching eggs. Lazy river moments.

Put Your Hands Up!!
With backpacks full and excitement, we traveled to Iowa for a little vacation. Jack was all about airplanes and going to Grammy/Grampy's house. It was clear he did not recall his earlier plane flights, as he yelled quite loudly at takeoff "Put Your Hands Up!" One has to admit it makes the experience a bit more fun. Then he proceeded to talk rather loudly about everything for the next few hours. It was a blast!
Once in Iowa, we pretty much did it all. It's clear Okoboji is geared towards family. So many fun events from painting rocks, climbing trees, creating fish on shirts, and endless summer fun. This is topped by playgrounds at restaraunts, boats to watch, and pancakes to eat. There was a bit of everything. The highlight might have been fireworks while on the boat - an unexpected treat. Or perhaps it was a real ice cream truck that even had popsicles. Icing on the cake were tractor rides, jumping off the dock, rides in the convertible, and hitting every playground in sight.
Having spent so many summers there as a child, it's great to see how excited they were for every little moment.

Lazy Days Sunshine
Summer came in full force in the PNW. We have had record temps and a record streak of 52 days without ran. It's dry and hot. This means finding any opportunity to beat the heat....especially as we have no air conditioning. There have been sponge fights, sprinklers, river treks, pool visits, and lots of cool treats.
