Here Comes the Bus

On a lovely Fall day, Jack and I wandered slowly down to the bus this past week.  It was with great anticipation, we all waited...perhaps Ace most patiently of all.  This was his first bus meeting, and he was quite excited when the door finally opened.  It's nice to take those moments to experience the beauty of the place we call home.

This was followed by a fun weekend of making their own beds leading to several days of endless creative play.  Plus Jack then topped it off with his own unique fashion style.  Right now, he MUST wear tall socks and be sure everyone can see them.

Abundance of Local Faires

In recognition of our all our local farmers, we visited the Sno-Valley Tilthe Farm Faire this weekend. The food was fantastic with shredded pork, corn on the cob, and hot blueberry cobbler.  Added to the fun was a great band, local wine, games, and tractor rides.  The last days of summer are upon us, and this treat hit the spot.

With some cool air and a sprinkle of rain....

It felt a tad like fall around here.  The smoke in the air from surrounding fires has been pretty intense the past week.  Plus there was the alarm of a firetruck heard in the neighborhood that sent us into full alert.  Luckily some cool air has come in to break our 90 degree days and slight mist was felt in the air. It seems the PNW is going to from extreme hot to dropping right into fall.  Although some warmer weather is again on the horizon.

We took advantage of the break to visit our neighbor Remlinger Farms for the early festival days.  All the decorations were not quite up yet, but scarecrows were in place.  The crowds were minimal and fun was packed in.  Added bonus this year in that Jack is tall enough to ride the roller coaster.  Rode he (and we all) did....at least six times.

She's a Grader Now

With a bit of hesitation, Kyle slowly prodded into first grade this week.  The moving of her two good friends over the summer had set in along with a new teacher and new structure.  However, she bounded off the bus that day.  By day #2, there was no holding her back.  New friends were made, bus buddies met, and some familiarities were still in place.  She loves her teacher and even got surprised with a cookie on the day she picked to have hot lunch.  This year is going to be fantastic.

Now if Jack can only hold on long enough until the day he gets to ride the bus and have hot lunch, too!

Fair Heat and Treats

In a change of pace, we hit the fair on a 90-degree day that wore everyone out pretty quick.  Few animals were seen this year, as I expect even they were done with the heat.  Rides were conquered though, and treats were consumed.  Plus within two blocks of the parking lot, two kiddos were sound asleep.
