Grandpa Dale

This Memorial Day, we visited the National Cemetery to honor our veterans, including Grandpa Dale.  Kyle seemed a bit perplexed, continually asking when Grandpa Dale was going to be there.  She was excited to leave him a gift though.  Jack was more happy to meet one of the many amazing men for which he is named.

Walk this Way

Kyle at age 1 on her first walk to the mailbox.  She smiled excitedly the whole time following behind me.

Jack on his first walk to the mailbox.  He would look at me, grin, and take off running in the opposite direction laughing.

At least I know she is likely to be a rule follower.

Sunny Days are Here Again

We've had some early sunny weather in the PNW.  To take full advantage, Kyle and Jack visited a family farm.  There were goats, parrots, pony rides, and opportunities to  ride mini-fourwheelers.  Jack was more than happy to be out and about, and Kyle loved exploring.  Perhaps though we stayed a bit too long...both children were sound asleep within minutes of hitting the road.

Apparently we stayed a little too long.

Happy Birthday Mr. Jack

It seems only moments ago, Jack came into the world in all his fiery glory.  He was laid in my arms and just stared intensely at his momma for a good long while.  I suspect Jack knew everything was all right in the world.

Well since that day, Jack has not seemed to slow a bit.  When I picked up a onesie before that birth that stated Beast Mode, it pretty quickly became Jack's inner being.  This is Jack:

You are intense and not one to hold back.  If  you want it, that is what you want and must have at that moment.  You are curious and pay attention to everything around you.  You are a destroyer - every door/cabinet/drawer must be opened and cabinets removed.  All items must be felt, banged, and potentially chewed.  You love cars and anything that can be pushed on the floor.  Being outside is always a sign of happiness.  Big sisters are pretty amazing, and you think yours is rather special.  You hug intently and then throw in a bite or pinch for good measure.  You love food, but the minute you are done, everything is on the floor.  You laugh when trying to climb the stairs or running from mommy.  You have a tendency to ignore anyone trying to distract you or get your attention.  Your favorite items are a zebra and giraffe that you snuggle at night.  The minute you walked, you have not slowed down.  You are going to conquer it all and will not let a tumble or fall stand in your way.  I anticipate broken bones in your future, but you are going to love life while doing whatever brings you joy.

What a year, Baby Jack, what a year!

Put on her birthday crown -- "Just in case."

Mama Day

Last year, this mama was 40 weeks pregnant preparing for the arrival of Mr. Jack.  This year, I had the joy of chasing that little guy all over the place while also relishing the imagination of his big sister.  I learned if you eat too much you'll get a tumor, unicorns can by shy, and sometimes it's best just to dance.  I cannot think of a better Mother's Day than that.

Putting Down Roots

Kyle received flower seeds at daycare. She was quite excited to put on her gardening gloves and plant. Each day now we check to see if anything has sprouted.
