On the Road Again

Well, at least for Kyle's parents.  For Kyle, this past weekend was her first road trip.  It was also her first opportunity to ride in Dad's truck which she loved when she was awake.  We packed up (which required a lot more stuff with a baby) and headed over to Moses Lake followed by a jaunt to Chelan to spend time at Papa John and Grandma Donna's house.

Kyle was super excited to arrive in Moses Lake.  In fact, she was so excited she started smiling in reaction to our faces.  Let's just say I was pretty pumped.

As for Ace, he was likely the most excited to not only get to travel in the truck but also to stand guard by "his baby."  Over the weekend, he also made several attempts to provide a few doggy kisses, especially since he realized Kyle smells like milk.

While in Moses Lake, Kyle met her great-grandparents.  She made a point of being the perfect cuddly baby.

Following our time in Moses Lake, we traveled to Chelan where Kyle got in some good tummy time and displayed her bear pants.

However, it was a little bit too much, so a relaxing nap was needed.

Kyle awoke in time for an evening barbecue on a perfect April day, plus the opportunity to spend some time with Dad.

Easter morning, Kyle wore her favorite bunny outfit and took a few minutes to reflect (or stare at Papa and Grandma's ceiling fan).

To end the weekend, we captured an entire family photo.  It was a good trip, and everyone is ready to trek out again.

Happy Easter

Kyle enjoyed her first Easter - waking up to sunshine in Chelan at Papa John and Grandma's house, wearing her favorite bunny outfit, and receiving her first Easter basket. Her parents were also excited since they got to split the Easter goodies among themselves.

Who has Skills?

Kyle is developing quite a few new skills lately, or at least opportune picture moments that lead her parents to believe she is advanced.

She is intrigued by the wise words of her father.

She can sleep just about anywhere including during a rousing rendition of tummy time.

She often ponders deep thoughts before going to sleep or letting her parents know how it is.

She understands the power of the bottle.

She has mastered the pouty lip and looks pretty cute doing so.

Future BFFs

Kyle has joined the exciting world of play dates.  Actually, play dates involve four adorable baby girls either sleeping, eating, or staring at the objects their mothers place in front of them, while the new moms chat.  I suspect as time goes on though these four little ladies will be doing a lot of fun things together.  In fact, all the moms and babies are heading to the movies this weekend.  Living in the city definitely provides a lot of opportunity for new mothers.

You might not realize it from these pictures but Kyle is the youngest baby.  She is also nearly the tallest, which has her mother fearing she will be taller than her by the time she is in middle school.  The first picture was taken approximately three weeks ago with the second picture taken a few days ago.  They grow amazingly fast.

One Month

It is hard to believe that Kyle turned one month old today.   To mark the monumental occasion, I did as any new mother would and took a multitude of photos.  Probably to the point that Kyle was done with a camera being in her face.

Kyle has been a wonderful baby, so happy and content.  Most nights she sleeps nearly five hours, although she has her adopted her dad's work schedule of getting up at 4:00 a.m., no matter what time she got up during the night.  She is a great eater, and definitely went through a growth spurt at week 3.  The only thing she really insists on is a bottle.  Yet before becoming too demanding, she gives off little squawks to let you know what she wants.  In the last week or so, she loves to look at herself in a mirror and has started making little coo noises when happy.  This is typically after she eats. She enjoys music, lights, and sitting in her swing as long as it is at maximum level.   She falls asleep in anything that moves from the car to the stroller to the Moby wrap.  This has made trips much easier, which her mother vastly appreciates.  She also loves being held and currently wants to snuggle up on your shoulder for a good nap.  Kyle is getting stronger every day, working hard to hold her head up when being held.  It is definitely a pleasure to be at home with her during the day and watch as she starts to take in the world.

Happy Birthday Grammi

In honor of Grammi's special day, Kyle wanted to wear her favorite squirrel shirt.  Happy Birthday!  We love you and thanks for spending quality time with us.

Kyle has Many Faces

Kyle has a multitude of facial expressions.  Unfortunately I am never able to catch all of these on camera, but I am definitely trying.  She goes through a gamut of various smiles while falling sleep, which are slowing start to become apparent while awake too.  She has big yawns.  At times, she appears to be extremely intense and focused.  She has one eyebrow that rises on its own, a trait of her mother and great grandfather.  I tend to do this while thinking so we suspect she is having deep thoughts as well.  The one thing that is limited is crying or fussing.  For the most part, she seems extremely happy and content.  Plus she looks like an angel when sleeping.

America's Next Top Model

At the hospital, Kyle had pictures taken by a professional photography on her second day of life.  Below are several of our favorites.  It is hard to believe how much she has grown in just three weeks.
