Jumping into Fall with Busy Days

With the change in the weather and work trips, it seems this blog has been neglected.  That does not mean we have not been filling our weekends with extreme fun.  A little while back, Maggie came to visit for a half marathon run, so we threw in a trip to the local amusement spot.  A rain-soaked morning turned into a cloudy day but was absolutely perfect for us.  No lines, plenty of space, and massive mud puddles were a huge hit.  Even Maggie had a grand time!

Even better, it was a cool, brisk day for our 13.1 miles without a drizzle.

And so it begins

With a new backpack, big smile, and an adorable outfit, Kyle headed off to Kindergarten.  She was so excited and did not even bother to notice I had left the playground.  At the end of the day, we were all there to meet her off the bus.  She was thrilled to have her own seat and went on about new friends, going to the library, and making her first calendar.  The only downfall might be lunch was extremely fast, so she did not have enough time to eat her cookie.  I suspect someone was talking a tad.

Jack spent the first day asking about every 30 minutes, "Where Ky Ky go?"  He was then elated for an actual school bus to stop at our house.

There is little doubt that Kyle is going to rock kindergarten!  We cannot be more excited for this journey.

Corn Dogs and Elephant Ears

This year, we took a different approach to the Fair.   After a month of nearly no rain, it poured.  Hail was predicted for the evening, but we took our chances. It was absolutely perfect.  There were few people in sight, no lines, and endless opportunities.  Despite going in the evening, both kids had an amazing time and lasted until dark (which they thought was pretty amazing).  Although last year Jack had no interest in an elephant ear, this year he was all in.  Another highlight was a corn dog, ice cream, and jumping in every single puddle that was present.  Kyle loved the rides - especially the roller coaster and anything that went fast.  Both kids again enjoyed the sheep and goats.  Yet another successful end to the summer!

Swimming with the sharks

For one of the hottest days of the year, we trekked down to a nearby zoo for some fun.  Soon our Fridays will be filled with school, and no longer time with mommy.  I was likely feeling a little nostalgic.  It was a great day.  Jack was thrilled with the idea of sharks and would have spent hours at the underground sea tank.  Kyle loved walruses and running in the fountains.  A picnic lunch, lots of walking, and warm temps that made for napping animals brought two children that were asleep before we even left the parking lot.  The two trips on the carousel were only a bonus.
