With an Oink, a Moo, and a Cockadoodle Doo!

Turning 2 was essentially a week of partying for Kyle.  It started with monkey cupcakes and presents with family.  Suprisingly, Kyle had the blowing out the candle part down.  Next Grammi and Grampi came to visit, which meant car rides and tons of time outside.  Finally, Kyle had a grand time at her Farm party with all her friends.  There were trains, slides, ponies, and pigs!  Our girl was in heaven, even if she might have been a bit under the weather.  Hopefully all birthdays can be this great!

Daddy's Little Helper

As we reach the one-year anniversary of moving into our new home, projects continue.  Last week involved installing new chandeliers...one of which did not stay up too long.  Kyle was the mighty helper in these endeavors.  She loved the boxes and was thrilled with the idea of a ladder set up inside.

The BOOTS

Kyle has not shown any real interest in her attire...except when it comes to her feet.  She absolutely loves her boots!   This may largely be due to the fact she equates them with going outside.  Some mornings she wakes up asking about her boots.  Luckily, rain boots are the essential item in the Pacific NW.

Welcome Madison

The newest member of Kyle's family arrived on March 1 - her cousin Madison was born to Aunt Stephie and Uncle Eddie.  She's beautiful, and Kyle was more than thrilled to see "the baby."

How Old are You? I'm 2!

Today is Kyle's 2nd birthday.  Where has the time gone?  It seems like only hours ago she entered our lives.  Perhaps it's because life would not seem complete without her endless chatter, belly laughs, ferocious hugs, and even tantrums of frustration.

At 2, your vocabulary has expanded by bounds, although your favorite word is probably still "No, no, no, no, no."  You said your first whole sentence yesterday, asking if Dada was home.  You love to say "oh, man."  You respond to questions with "okay" and "uh huh" but never yes.  You know more animals than we realize including rhinoceros and parrot.  I suspect you are absorbing a multitude of things at TerTer's house.  My favorite is still when you say "duck, duck" instead of quack, quack.  It's also a pleasure listening to you chatter in the back of the car as we drive home each day.  It gives me great delight to hear you laugh at yourself.

Things you love include Bubble Guppies and Dora, boots, moose, and babies.  You play amazingly independently but love when someone just sits on the floor to interact.  Doors are not a challenge any more, and you've been known to let the cat inside or head downstairs to visit your best friend, Ace.  You approach others with enthusiasm and delight.  More than anything you love to be outside.  A good day with your coats and boots is an absolute must.  I think you would spend half the day going up the "big rocks" in the yard, although it's sweet when you put your hand out for help. You are a tomboy who is not afraid to get dirty but also love to wash your hands.  Luckily you entertain me by still allowing me to pick your clothes.  When frustrated you grip your fists and give a little groan - a trait I must say you inherited from me.  When we come in each morning, you greet us with eagerness and an exuberant Hi.  It's the best way to start the day.  You eat heartily but never make a mess.  You would pick apples over candy.  If given a tool, you will immediately begin to try and fix things.  When we go to a new playground, you start out cautious but then jump in full force.   If it was possible, you would go down the slide over and over for hours.  Each day, you love to end it with a good book or two.  Story time is special, and I love how much excitement you show for books.   Anything with flaps is an absolute hit.  You are starting to remember the story and often add your own sounds when required.  Then you snuggle down to sleep with your circle blankie, and I listen to the comforting sound only you make.

This past year has brought such astonishment watching you grow.  You absorb and soak in the world around you.  We are blessed to have such a fun and vivacious little lady.  You enrich the lives of everyone around you!

Yard Work

Spring is just around the corner, which means yet another go at yard work.  This year, Kyle is more than excited to participate.  Especially when yard work involves a big pile of rocks that needs to be placed.

Perhaps her mama should realize though...white pants are not best for yardwork.  This little lady loves dirt!
