As mentioned previously, Kyle has truly found her voice. One of her favorite things to do is squeal when excited. This typically involves something as enthralling as a ceiling fan or a smile for her parents. Here is one of my first attempts at video on the blog to show a short example of Kyle's squeals. She apparently is a bit camera shy because she quieted down significantly once I started taping. I assure you when she gets ramped up she has quite the lungs.

Yum Yum
For her father's birthday, Kyle wanted to join in all the celebrating. So she had her first bite of solid food. To her dismay, it was not cake. Rice cereal did not quite have the same excitement. Based on her expression, the taste was not well received. At least she loves sitting in her new high chair.

A Good Book
Given my love of books, I am doing everything to introduce the pleasure of reading and stories to Kyle as well. I found this great book . Kyle loves to sit and stare at the various pictures. Perhaps she'll be spouting at words in no time.
| Travis would likely deny it, but I am pretty sure she is smiling at the cat. Although the future farmer in her may love the tractor. |

Planting a Tree
Last week, we received the neatest baby gift from one of Travis' co-workers, a tree. When their son was born 21 years ago, they planted this tree. Through the years as friends and family have had a baby, they have replanted a seedling to give to that family. Although I am not known for my green thumb, I am honored they included us in this tradition. Hopefully one day Kyle can give a seedling to her children.

Five
Yesterday, Kyle turned five months old. I guess everyone says the days go faster when you have kids and that seems to be true. This past month, Kyle accomplished many things. She is now rolling like a champ - every direction. When I go to get her from her crib, she is always in an entirely new position. She puts herself to sleep and indicates the need for a nap by kindly laying her head in her arms. In a different twist, she figured out the power of her own voice and much to her pleasure, the fact that she scream with delight. Although I realize this is great over crying, it can be a bit loud at 6:30 a.m. When you see how happy she is though, it is hard not to feel the same. She loves books with big pictures and cuddly toys that vibrate. She still loves Ace and finds him quite entertaining. At the end of the day, there is nothing better than seeing that smile. There is no doubt Kyle loves her mommy and daddy.

Who's Rolling?
Kyle is. Last week, Kyle finally took the initiative and rolled over. She found this quite hilarious. Then she just kept rolling. I am starting to wonder if Kyle is going to be the child who does not attempt something until she can do it absolutely perfect, AKA her mother.
These shots were taken seconds after the first back to tummy role. You can tell how excited she was.

It's going to be a sorcher.
For the rest of the country battling 100 degree temperatures the past week, I suspect many of you would welcome Seattle temperatures right now. As for these parts, until last week, Seattle had experienced a grand total of 76 minutes of summer - yes, that is only 76 minutes above 80 degrees. In fact, a bit further North, in our area it had yet to top 75. Well the sun came out and we took advantage. Here are a few pics of Kyle doing her thing in some of her summer attire.
| A vast majority of pictures for the past couple of days involve Kyle playing with her feet. She finally realized they are great to chew on as well. |

Going Bowling
Below is a series of pics I took of Kyle wearing a shirt I call her bowling shirt. She was all smiles that day. These also show how great she has gotten at sitting in her Bumbo chair.
