I get to do what???

This little guy is always excited to ride in Daddy's truck.  However, when you also get to face forward for the first time, it's something amazing.  The smile stayed on his face for nearly 30 minutes.
A trip made all the better when he spied a fire truck.

We're going on a Hunt!

I'm not entirely sure what type of hunt they are going on, but they definitely packed all the essentials.

What a Morning!

As kick-off to summer, we visited the neighboring town celebration days.  Within a span of one morning, this family ran a 5K, completed some obstacles, had some pancakes, and climbed on firetrucks.  Both children were quick to announce it was a good day!  Even better, now that we are enjoying small town life, we ran into multiple people we knew.  Perhaps this is the key to getting back to my Iowa roots.

How did we get here?

In less than 10 days, Kyle has kindergarten orientation. She is so ready for this.  However, I wonder how we went so quickly from an always happy baby to joy-filled toddler to abide by the rules preschooler to standing on the steps of kindergarten.  Gone is our baby, here is our little girl!  Loving every minute of this age though.

She's a fantastic little person.  The past weekend, Travis and I were doing some work outside.  Kyle got Jack out of bed, assisted him with putting on his boots, and then walked him safely around the property while searching for us.  The pure joy on both them when they saw us running made it something special.  I suspect we are both thankful though that the older one is definitely responsible.

Let Freedom Ring

As in the past, we visited the national cemetery on Memorial Day.  Time was taken to remember Grandpa Dale and pay respects to all soldiers.  As Kyle gets older, there are more questions about the flags and the reasons behind the cemetery.  She has a litany of veterans within her family, so we can only hope she fully understands the benefits of the sacrifices they made.
