In a rare move here, the PNW anniliated previous hot temperatures with several days hitting 90 in June. We celebrated with ice cream that Jack apparently thought was delicious. A makeshift pool was made for hours of fun including water guns and tailgate jumps. Then another makeshift pool was made down by the river as we watched tubers go by and fish swimming. If you have to beat the heat, it's clear these kids figured out how to do it.

School's Out
On a year that seemed to fly by, Kyle finished kindergarten this week. Yes, we go to school until almost the end of June. There was a big moving up day the week before where she got to meet her 1st grade teacher and new classmates. Several friends will be with her.
Then the the final days were celebrated with an ice cream party, water balloons, and tons of friend fun to kick off summer. This has been an amazing year for Kyle, and it is clear she loves school. We can't wait for 1st grade...although I suspect she is going to live up her 18 days of summer break (I'm not telling her it goes until September).

Swinging for the Fences
After an unsure start to the little league season, something clicked for Kyle. Her hand-eye coordination intensified, and this little lady started swinging like every ball was heading for the high seats. They may have only made it to the outfield, but she hit every time at bat for the last five games. Added to this was some intensified field play which included a few outs. It's clear when she is having fun the girl can play. Now there is a desire for batting practice nearly every night, and a special time with her dad. She cannot wait for next season and is focused on building a shelf to display all her trophies.

Climbing Walls for Pancakes
In what is becoming a tradition, Kyle once again conquered the local obstacle course to kick off the summer. This year, mom had to skip her own 5K but Kyle took on the kindergarten class with a vengeance. She loved every minute...and this time did all the obstacles. Her softball arm helped her hit the top ring this year, which was a first.
The obstacle course was followed by a Jack favorite - pancakes at the fire station. Win, win for everyone. Plus the chance to sit in an engine, check out the rescue boat, and crawl in the ambulance. One of the firemen noted Jack was the first to figure out how to open a latch below the driver seat. Not a surprise at all for his parents!
