When Kyle was born, we resided in a place on Market Street. It had been great for the two of us - originally started as a bachelor pad. However, as Kyle began to occupy her own style and mommy started working from home, it was clear we needed a bit more space. Well, on a random morning of viewing listings after not opening them for weeks, I came across 106th Drive and fell in love. After a bit of a battle, we finally moved in on Kyle's first birthday.
What did I love about this place - for some it might have been the space, the view, or the amazing kitchen. For me, it was the front step. The minute I saw it - that was the step where I would take Halloween photos, first day of school, and perhaps one day send me children off to college or even to be married. It was what made me call this place home.
Today, we say good-bye to that step. It is bittersweet. This home has seen Kyle flourish with its endless landscape and opportunities to play. It has welcomed a new baby and watched him begin his own path of destruction. It has been a sanctuary and the place where we wanted only to return each evening. There will be more memories, and hopefully soon I will once again have "that step"' which lets me know this is where we belong.
