When Kyle hit 6, she proclaimed, "this is awesome!" She was right; it totally was. Six was simply full of amazness. It was a year of big achievements, great learning, and having more fun than some can imagine. If I could capture up this year and Kyle in it, I would hold onto it forever as the utopia one hopes to achieve.
With a thunderous downpour and some of the largest puddles we have had to date, you pounded into 6 with a backyard birthday bash that was simple and everything you are. Pinatas, candy, friends, and endless running. It simplified all that you hold dear - togetherness, people, smiles and being present. You exemplify much of what makes the world great - joy, caring for others, a true helper, and a constant strive to do what seems good. You love accomplishing tasks, especially if there is a reward at the end. Day after day you will color a beautiful picture to see the final result. Rules are still your favorite thing, especially when there are lists and items to mark off. You even create them for your mom and make sure it's followed. You work hard at every endeavor from your homework to reading to helping your father build whatever project is before us. You also love to play and still allow Jack to participate in every minute for the most part. That little guy definitely hit the jackpot having you for a sister, and it is clear he adores you more than his heart can even understand. It's the same feeling we as your parents have for you. This year you accomplished some momentous things, and I truly felt the tugging in your chest from seeing your kid do something that brings them pride.
This year you rode your bike, swung a bat like you were going for the fences, learned to read and loved it, decided math was pretty awesome, and knocked out your first blackout bingo. You worked on saying hello, keeping your head up, and engaging others in conversation. You threw candy in a parade, went to camp, greeted at church, learned to play chess, went on a waterslide, clammed on the beach, and found out you would be a flowergirl. You planted trees, did a hundred crafts and pictures, built a city out of legos, got an abundance of tiger paws, and continued your love for thrill rides. You swung more nights than one might imagine, created imaginary play scenarios with your brother, and walked across the river like you were the boss.
You love beanie boos and any stuffed animal, all with a special place in your heart and your room. You dressed a penguin and took him all over town. You cared for bears and dogs and all creatures. you expanded your willingness to eat more foods and started to request items that before you would have turned away. You made special trinkets for your friends, hung more things on your backpack than was reasonable, and wrote special messages for your family often with money attached. You made sure to always save some for yourself. You love eating at a restaraunt, enjoyed every minute of our vacation on the beach, and still hold days in Iowa with your cousin as pure bliss.
Kyle you are everything to us and greater than we could have ever imagined. You have amazed us and given us pride that almost makes you burst. Hold tight to who you are because you optimize much of what the world needs. Continue to work hard, enjoy life, extend your hand to others, and recognize the magnitude in accomplishing a goal. We love you with every ounce of us, and we know you feel the same!
