One Whole Hand

It's true...Kyle has reached that milestone where announcing her age requires all the fingers of one hand.  It seems like only moments ago she was figuring out three, then four, and now we are here.

This year has been one of change with multiple moves, new locations, transitioning care, and preparing for the days of school.  In her usual style, you have taken this in stride.  You are friendly, loving, and always eager to please.  You strive to be a part of the group and everyone's friend.  It sometimes hits hard when that does not happen.  Then your reluctance comes forward a bit, but slowly weans away.  You are curious and inquisitive.  Everyone gets asked a question - sometimes ones they are not expecting.  It is only a sign of your innocence, which I love.  This past year I have learned many people's stories and am thankful for that.  You are organized in a manner that does not always make sense, but you know immediately if Jack has touched something.  Our house is now filled with various little pockets of items to signify your space.  You aim to please and help.  You follow your mother in being easily frustrated, which can stand in the way of accomplishing a goal.  Once you learn to calm a bit, you are going to tackle many great things.  You know how to focus and complete a task.  You are smart and funny with a wit that involves laughing intensely at your own knock-knock jokes. Jack things they are pretty great, too.  You have a smile that lights the room and an aura that brings joy.  We are so in love and amazed every day by you.

This year you love mermaids, unicorns, legos, and the puzzles.  You are tackling 100 pieces with ease. You color and draw - often pictures for Jack or mom.  You love fruit, cookies, and taking your own lunch to school.  Treats from your pumpkin are always a favorite.  You are riding a bike...sort of.  You love books about princesses and sparkly things.  If given the choice, you would be in short-sleeves, no socks, and "short pants" no matter the weather.  If need to go outside, rain boots are a staple.  You play with intense imagination acting out scenes in your dollhouse, barn or with your legos.  Specials days are outside with Dad where you walk Ace all over the property and leash him to various spots.  He loves every minute!  Family is important, and the day we had all your cousins over is still talked about months later.  You wish they were all closer and miss then intensely.

Special moments this past year include signing a song about a unicorn at Nordstrom's, calling Jack that "freakin kid", tacking fair rides all alone, driving Grampi's boat with some flair, playing football with your buds, snowman at Grandma's house, and so many more.  You went to your first Iowa game, swam all alone, treked up and down the hill to the mailbox, started a new preschool, and said good-bye to a place you held dear.  You made new friends and continued to love and remember old ones.  You touched people and hold a special place.  You are full of hugs and smiles and an entertaining comment.

This next year will bring so many things.  You will conquer a new school and schedule.  However, I do not doubt that you will do it with ease, happiness, and love for all those around you.  In your future are slumber parties, field trips, and so many amazing things.  You are something, more than we could have ever imagined.  So many people only tell us, "I just love her!" and all we can do is smile.  That's exactly how we feel, too.
